Hope for Recovery (9:30)

Children and Trauma (20:34)

Further develops practitioners' clinical knowledge and skills concerning psychobiological models of chronic stress and PTSD that are risk factors for medical illness.


 

Psychopharmacology of PSTD (90 min)
Increases participants' knowledge in identifying target symptoms in PTSD for pharmacological treatment and to provide basic information on the mechanisms of action of various classes of pharmacological agents.


 

Readiness to Change in PTSD Treatment (102 min)
Reviews clinical issues and research findings in the treatment of combat-related PTSD, the PTSD Motivation Enhancement Group, and a proposed model of PTSD treatment failure based on the Stages of Change model.

Increases the participants' clinical knowledge of theories related to the "cycle of violence" in both adolescents and adults. Increases skill in identifying and treating dysfunctional anger and violent behavior as comorbidities of PTSD.

Wounded Spirits, Ailing Hearts: PTSD and the Legacy of War Among American Indian & Alaska Native Veterans

Contains interviews with native veterans and family members, providing powerful personal examples of military experience and readjustment to civilian life. They also describe experiences and perceptions about problems encountered when seeking or obtaining assistance from the VA, the Indian Health Service (IHS), community and tribal resources.

Each video will help viewers and staff recognize the cultural impact on the veteran and enable them to interact with the veteran in a manner that demonstrates respect for the cultural and social values, as well as the spiritual and emotional needs of the Native American veteran suffering from PTSD. Each video is accompanied by additional key content and resource information for each targeted group of VA staff.
